Bookmark and Share Transwoman Gender Realignment Surgery In India

Adult men who feel their natural bodies are in contradiction with their behavioral inclinations from a gender perspective are said to be gender dysphoric. This condition leads to the individual feeling at odds with their physical identity and as a result, they may seek to make changes to their appearance in order to conform to their female predispositions.

Male subjects experiencing gender dysphoria are often described as being transsexual or transgendered and are commonly labeled transwomen. Typically, transwomen seek to assume the physical appearance of a female via gender realignment surgery, a process which can be slow and necessitate psychological evaluation before commencement.

Procedure information
Gender realignment surgery for transwomen involves the use of prosthetics and complex reconstructive techniques to create a natural female appearance and corresponding physical characteristics.

Genital reassignment surgery, initially involving breast augmentation followed by a procedure known as a vaginoplasty in which the penis and testes are partially removed then reconstructed to resemble a vagina, are typical major procedures for transwomen. Hormone therapy is also a necessary and ongoing aspect of the process, while corrective facial surgery may also be required as well as the removal of the Adam’s apple and alteration of the vocal chords.

Recovery time
Following breast augmentation, patients are required to spend at least 2 days resting and up to 7 days in a recuperative state. Work can normally be resumed after this period however anything other than mild physical activity is advised against until at least a month has passed.

Vaginoplasty in transwomen is a complicated surgical procedure requiring a period of recovery in terms of months rather than weeks. At least a month off work is recommended, during which time patients should rest and observe any special rehabilitative procedures recommended by the surgeon.

Vocal chord surgery and neutralization of the Adam’s apple are considered fairly minor procedures which can be recovered from in a matter of weeks and require only brief abstentions from work.
